Mark your calendars for the fall book fair coming to PSI on October 24 – 26 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm. Your help is needed in order to make this event a success. We need volunteers to help with setting up the fair, helping kids create their wish lists, working the cash registers, and breaking down the fair when it’s all over. The PSI Baile Folklorico Dance program is an after school activity where students learn traditional dances and cultural traditions from Spanish speaking countries. At the end of each fall and spring session, students will perform for their peers at an all school assembly and a community performance.
Students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th grades are eligible to participate. Students dance one day per week, in a Monday or Wednesday class from 3:00-4:30 p.m., choosing the Fall or Spring session.

Fall Spirit Wear is now available to order! Click here to check out the great merchandise and purchase online. Spirit Wear makes great gifts for kids and teachers! All orders will be delivered to your child’s classroom in mid-October. If you would like to purchase a gift for your child, please select “Office” for delivery to keep it a surprise. All orders are due by September 20th and all proceeds go back to support PSI!
Thanks to its success last year, PSI Parents has teamed up again with School Tool Box to offer parents the option of ordering teacher requested school supplies for the 2017-2018 school year.

Please join us for an end of the year spring picnic at Oak Hill Park on Tuesday, May 30th from 5-8 p.m.! We will have food trucks, park games, music and a 50/50 raffle! This is a great way to end the year for the students as they say good-bye to friends for the summer! It’s also a chance to take a break from cooking and cleaning up dinner! Money raised at this picnic will help defray the cost for next years 5th graders two day retreat. Hope to see you and your family there!
As in the past, we will be treating the staff to coffee and treats in the lounge all week, as well as the annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, May 10th in the staff lounge.
To help make the week a success, we are asking for volunteers to bring food items throughout the week. This event is supported entirely by PSI family donations. Please see the SignUpGenius link here to see the items that are needed.
Please make sure to label all your serving dishes and utensils. All serving items will be washed and ready for you to pick up in Staff Lounge by Friday, May 12th. Please label any Gluten Free or Vegetarian items.

I’m writing to share about 1st grade (Sra Brown) classmate’s situation. Becktu’s father, Belete, had a heart attack and emergent open heart surgery recently. He is on the road to recovery but has had to be out of work and unfortunately does not have disability benefits through his employer. As a result the family is facing significant financial hardship. They are from Ethiopia so do not have any family here either.
Please read the website and donate if you are willing and able. Please keep them in your thoughts as they navigate these difficult times.

Calling all writers….by the way, that’s all of you! PSI is making its 4th edition published book of K-5 student writing called La revista. We need your best writing to make this happen. Between now and Feb 24th we are asking students to submit 1 or 2 writing pieces (1 Spanish and 1 English) to be considered for La revista.
We encourage all K-5 students at PSI to participate. It’s your chance to be a PUBLISHED writer. Please see the information sheet with all the details, but don’t delay. All submissions need to be done electronically through Google Docs. Then share your document through Google to: firstname.lastname@example.org . If your writing piece is in Spanish, please share it on Google with your classroom teacher too. We hope to see lots of great writing from you this year!
Prefer to write a check? Send a check for $15 to school with your child’s name and grade in the memo line. Please put the check in an envelope and mark it “Yearbook”. You may turn it in at the office or ask your child to turn it into their classroom teacher. (Avoid all this by ordering online above!)

We have several Amity Interns that are taking English classes on Tuesday nights from 6-9. We need your help providing rides to and from those classes. This is a quick and easy way to support the Amity program!
Amities need to be picked up at 5:45 p.m. at PSI and taken to Eisenhower Elementary School (1001 Highway 7, Hopkins).
Amities need to be picked up at 9:00 p.m. and driven to their various homes. A link to all addresses can be found here.

Total number of Amities will be no more than 5 (Ignacio, Sergio, Noelia, Michael, Yaneth).

On Tuesday, February 7th – Bring the whole family to enjoy a night
of gym games and yoga! Bring dry shoes (no wet boots/shoes on the gym floor), and your own water bottle. An adult must accompany students to this event.
Families will meet in the gym where P.E. teacher, Sr. Watkins, and P.E. Assistant, Sra. Huss, will lead the group in a variety of high energy games!
If fast paced isn’t your thing, then head downstairs to stretch and relax with some family yoga. There will be a series of four, 10-minute yoga sessions geared towards kids and families.
Fruit will be provided at the end of the night to refuel.

A portion of the money spent gets returned to our school and raises money for our school to have wonderful Amities!!
